The Montreal Bitcoin Expo has been postponed due to low sponsorship, the Montreal Gazette reports. According to a spokesperson for the event, it is unclear when the expo may be rescheduled.
The event, which was slated to be Montreal’s first Bitcoin expo, was scheduled for August 21st to the 23rd. Expo admission was going to be free, with the event relying only on sponsors for funding. According to a press release, the event was launched to “provide an open window into [Bitcoin’s] universe and future.”
Montreal is home to the Bitcoin Embassy, which is known as the world’s first physical space dedicated to cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies.
At the time of writing, the expo website is still displaying a countdown for the event.
