Spanish University to Offer Bitcoin Course

The Bitcoin course will be accredited by the University of Alicante, located in San Vicente del Raspeig, and was developed in collaboration with experts from Coinzone, an European company that allows people and companies to accept Bitcoin payments.

HOW AND WHEN?

The online course “Bitcoin, la moneda virtual” (Bitcoin, the virtual currency) will take place between the 14th and the 30th of April, several experts in the area will give lectures and official accreditation will be given by the University to those who complete the class.

This course is only meant to serve as an introduction, hence it’s shortness, and will consist of 5 classes in which students will learn what Bitcoins are, how they work, the business opportunities they offer, speculation about its future and will also cover a real-life business example, One Shot Hotels (a Spanish hotel chain that both accepts payments in Bitcoins and started adding ATMs to several of its locations starting from October of last year).

UniMOOC, the online classroom platform that will host the course, boasts the following somewhat cringeworthy statement on its website:

“When you finish this course, you’ll be able to say out loud you’re a Bitcoin expert!”

THE TEACHERS

The invited lectures will be: Manuel Heilmann (CEO and Co-Founder of Coinzone), Jose Carlos Diez (teacher at the University of Alcalá, collaborator at the IE Business School), Francesc Fajula (Director of Innovation at Banc Sabadell), Paul Sylling (Marketing Director and Vicepresident of User Experience at Coinzone), Enrique Solis (One Shot Hotel Co-Founder) and Alexander Tarle (Technology Director at Coinzone) amongst others.
